Returns & Exchanges

A note on our handmade pieces. Every House of Motifs item is woven in small batches using traditional Turkish techniques and natural dyes. Because of this, slight variations in color, texture, and weave are an inherent and celebrated part of what you are receiving — not a defect. These natural characteristics are not grounds for return. We encourage you to reach out before purchasing if you have any questions about a specific piece.


At a Glance

  • 30-day return window — Items must be postmarked within 30 days of your delivery date.
  • Unworn condition — Free from wear, stains, and odor, with original tags intact.
  • Return shipping — Customer covers return postage. Please use a trackable service.
  • Final sale items — Sale items, custom/personalized, and altered pieces are not eligible for return.

Refund Options

We offer two refund paths for change-of-mind returns:

  • Store credit — Receive the full value of your item plus a 10% bonus credit. This is our recommended option and avoids any additional fees.
  • Refund to original payment method — Receive the full amount minus a 5% restocking fee, which helps us offset fulfillment and restocking costs as a small-batch brand.

Please note that original shipping costs are non-refundable, and refunds are processed within 5–7 business days of receiving your return.


How to Return or Exchange

Step 1 — Contact us. Email info@houseofmotifs.com with your order number and reason for the return or exchange. We respond within 1–2 business days.

Step 2 — Receive your RA number. We will send you a return authorization (RA) number along with full instructions on how to proceed.

Step 3 — Ship the item. Securely package your item, include the RA number inside, and send it using a trackable shipping service. Return postage is your responsibility.

Step 4 — Inspection & resolution. Once we receive your return, we will inspect the item and process your store credit or refund within 5–7 business days. We reserve the right to decline returns that do not meet our condition requirements.


Exchanges

Exchanges are subject to availability. To exchange an item, please follow the return process above and place a new order for the desired item. If your preferred item is out of stock, we will issue store credit at full value or a refund so you can shop when it is restocked.


Non-Returnable Items

The following are final sale and not eligible for return, exchange, or store credit:

  • Sale items
  • Gift cards
  • Personalized or custom-made items
  • Altered items

Made-to-order items — pieces made specifically for your order are not eligible for a cash refund, but we are happy to issue store credit at full value.


Damaged or Defective Items

If you receive a damaged or defective item, please email info@houseofmotifs.com immediately with your order number and photos of the issue. We will provide a prepaid return label and send a replacement or issue a full refund at no cost to you.

Please note that natural variation in color, weave, or texture inherent to our handmade process does not constitute a defect.


Order Changes & Cancellations

If you need to modify or cancel your order, please reach out to info@houseofmotifs.com as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate changes before your order is fulfilled and shipped.


Price Adjustments

If an item you purchased at full price goes on sale, we will honor a price adjustment as store credit only — provided you contact us within 24 hours of the sale beginning. Price adjustments are not available for purchases made before or after a sale event.


Frequently Asked Questions

Can I return a gift?
Yes. Gifts can be returned for store credit at full value, or for a refund to the original payment method minus the 5% restocking fee.

How long does processing take?
Once we receive your item, please allow 5–7 business days for inspection and processing.

The color looks slightly different from the photos — can I return it?
Natural dye variation between small batches is expected and is not grounds for return. We do our best to represent colors accurately and are happy to answer questions before you purchase.

What if I don't have the original packaging?
Items should be returned in secure packaging. Please contact us and we will advise on the best approach for your situation.

What if my exchange item is out of stock?
We will issue store credit at full value or a refund (minus the restocking fee) so you can shop when your item is restocked.
