Blue, red, green and gold diamonds step across an ivory ground in a continuous lattice. This is the multicolor ikat pillow cover to reach for when a room has several colours already and needs one object to make them look deliberate rather than accidental.

Five colours, five bindings

Every additional colour in an ikat means another round of binding, dyeing and drying before the yarn ever reaches the loom. A five-colour lattice like this one is the most labour-intensive piece in the collection, and the reason the diamonds line up down the length of the cloth is that a weaver kept them there by hand.

Styling it

Works hardest in a room that is nearly neutral but has two or three accent colours scattered around it — a rug, a book spine, a vase. Put this on the sofa and those colours stop looking random. On a busy sofa it will compete, so give it plain neighbours.
