Leaf shapes in gold, rose and charcoal scatter across a deep navy ground. This navy ikat pillow cover is resist-dyed at the yarn stage and handwoven in Türkiye, so the gold does not sit on top of the navy — the two are woven through each other, and the boundary between them feathers.

Why navy is difficult

Dark grounds are the hardest ikat to get right. The dye has to take deeply enough to read as true navy without bleeding into the gold beside it, which is why so much navy ikat on the market is printed instead. Look at where the gold meets the navy here: soft, not sharp.

Styling it

This is the cover for a room that is already neutral and needs depth rather than brightness. It reads almost as a solid from across the room and only reveals the leaves up close — which makes it one of the easier patterns to live with on a sofa you use every day.
