A vertical flame runs the length of this olive green ikat pillow cover, coral licking up through deep olive. The pattern was dyed into the yarn before weaving began — not printed onto finished cloth — which is why the edge of every flame softens rather than stops.

The flame motif

Flame and candle forms are among the oldest shapes in ikat weaving, and among the hardest to align: each bundle of dyed yarn has to meet its neighbour on the loom within a thread or two, or the flame breaks. The slight waver you can see up close is the weaver's hand, not a flaw.

Styling it

Olive is the quiet member of this collection. It sits comfortably on oatmeal, cream and mid-grey upholstery where a brighter pattern would shout, and the coral gives a neutral room one warm note to hold on to. Pair it with Saffron Grid if you want the warmth doubled.
