The diamond, or baklava

The diamond lattice is one of the founding structures of Turkish weaving. Weavers used it to organise a whole field of cloth into something the eye could hold, and across Anatolian regional traditions it carries associations of abundance and of protection. Set against a dark ground, the diamonds read almost as lanterns.

Handwoven, never printed

The motif is woven into the pile, which is why the pinks and oranges appear lit from within rather than laid on top. Every bag is cut from its own length of cloth, so no two share a pattern placement.
