Suzani Tulip Lumbar Pillow Cover | Blue 16x24

A blue suzani lumbar pillow cover with tulips and pomegranates

Red tulips and small pomegranates with green leaves, hand-embroidered on a pale blue ground and set in a 16" × 24" lumbar. The long format lets the row of motifs run the length of the cover.

Tulips and pomegranates together

Two of the oldest suzani motifs on one cover — the tulip for the Ottoman court, the pomegranate for abundance. On a lumbar they line up in a procession rather than a scatter, which suits the shape.

Styling it

A lumbar is the cover you put in front of a pair of square cushions, or along the head of a bed. Pale blue with red reads fresh and slightly folk — good against white bedding or a natural-linen sofa.
