Handmade Turkish silk velvet shoulder bag

The leopard motif
Leopard has been in Turkish textiles far longer than it has been in fashion — spotted pelts appear in Ottoman court painting as a mark of rank. Rendered in silk velvet the spots lose their edge and become something softer, closer to a brushstroke.

The same cloth as our pillow covers: dense pile, deep colour, a sheen that shifts with the light. Cut and sewn by hand in women-owned workshops. The three-panel construction means the fuchsia sides are as much a part of this bag as the leopard front.
