Why the lattice never ends

Lattice work sits at the heart of Islamic ornament. With figurative image set aside, designers pushed geometry as far as it would go, into patterns with no centre and no resolving edge. The same construction appears in Anatolian carpet fields, in carved stone screens and in tile panels, at wildly different scales.

Handwoven, never printed

The lattice is woven into the velvet, so the pink shifts between blush and rose depending on how the light falls. Each bag is cut from a different length of cloth, so the pattern crops uniquely on yours.
